Most ignition transformers do not fail because the voltage was too low. They fail because they were specified for the wrong duty cycle.
A transformer rated for intermittent operation will survive for years inside a domestic wall-hung boiler that fires a few times a day. Put the same unit on a tunnel kiln that ignites continuously for eight-hour shifts, and it will overheat, crack its insulation, and stop sparking - usually at the worst possible moment. When a burner fails to light, fuel keeps flowing. The cost of that failure is never the price of the transformer.
That is the logic behind the high-voltage ignition transformer line now available from Jiangsu Tianwang Solar Technology Co., Ltd. Rather than offering one general-purpose module and letting customers work out the rest, the range is organised around three clearly defined operating profiles: gas, oil, and low-voltage DC mobile heating.

Three profiles, three engineering answers
1. Gas - single-pole output, compact and insulated
Gas ignition is the simplest case electrically. Natural gas and LPG ignite easily, so the transformer does not need extreme voltage; what it needs is a stable arc to ground through the burner body.
Output: single pole, typically [7–8 kV]
Construction: flame-retardant plastic housing, lightweight, high dielectric strength
Duty: intermittent (typically 33%)
Typical equipment: wall-hung boilers, commercial gas ranges, fryers, ovens, small burners
Ignition gap: [3–5 mm]
Because these appliances are operated directly by end users and installed in tight enclosures, insulation performance and flame-retardant rating matter more than raw output.

2. Oil - double-pole output, metal housing, built for heat
Fuel oil, diesel and heavy oil are harder to light, and the burner chamber runs hotter and dirtier. Here the spark must jump directly between two electrodes rather than finding a path to ground.
Output: double pole, typically [2 × 5 kV or 2 × 6 kV]
Construction: metal housing for mechanical strength and heat dissipation
Duty: continuous (100%) available for kilns and industrial boilers
Typical equipment: industrial boilers, steam generators, thermic fluid heaters, tunnel kilns, process furnaces
Ignition gap: [5–6 mm]
A metal housing is roughly [30%] more expensive than a plastic one, but in a dusty, high-temperature environment it more than doubles service life. Industrial customers who have replaced a failed transformer mid-production rarely argue about that premium twice.

3. Mobile and off-grid - 12V / 24V DC input, epoxy potted
Parking heaters, diesel air heaters, marine cabin heaters and portable combustion equipment have no mains supply. They run off a vehicle battery, and they have to start reliably in a cold winter night.
Input: 12 V DC or 24 V DC, direct from battery
Output: [4–7 kV], single or double pole
Construction: epoxy resin vacuum potting - compact, vibration resistant, PCB-mountable
Operating temperature: [−30 °C to +70 °C]
Typical equipment: parking heaters, diesel air heaters, RV and truck cab heaters, marine heaters
The potted structure is what makes this profile work. A conventional wound transformer will not survive the vibration environment of a vehicle, and epoxy encapsulation also removes the moisture ingress that kills unsealed units in marine applications. Power consumption is a small fraction of a glow-plug ignition system, which matters when the load sits on a battery that also has to start an engine.

Built on 30 years of ignition coil production
Jiangsu Tianwang Solar Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 1990 in Jingjiang, Jiangsu Province. The company's annual capacity includes [9 million high-voltage ignition coils] and [3.5 million] various high-voltage generators, supported by:
6 automatic winding production lines
2 automatic epoxy resin vacuum potting lines
2 infrared image recognition automatic plug-in lines
Every unit is electrically tested before shipment. Winding, potting and assembly are handled in-house rather than outsourced, which is what makes short sampling cycles and consistent batch-to-batch parameters possible.
Most products hold CE, ROHS, SGS, UL, FCC, UN38.3 and MSDS certification, manufactured under ISO9001 and BSCI audited quality systems.
Custom and OEM supply
Standard models cover the majority of burner designs, but ignition transformers are frequently specified as a drop-in replacement for an existing unit. For these enquiries the company works from the original specification - input voltage, output voltage, pole configuration, mounting footprint, duty cycle and connector type - and produces samples for evaluation within [7–15 days], followed by mass production after validation.
Buyers looking to replace an existing transformer are advised to have the following to hand before enquiring:
Input supply available at the installation (mains AC, or 12/24 V DC)
Fuel type (natural gas, LPG, diesel, heavy oil)
Required output voltage and pole configuration
Duty cycle - intermittent or continuous
Mounting dimensions and connector type
Annual volume and target certification
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between single-pole and double-pole output? A single-pole transformer discharges from one high-voltage electrode to the burner's grounded metal body - suitable for gas. A double-pole transformer discharges between two electrodes, which is required for oil and heavy fuels that do not reliably arc to ground.
Can one transformer be used for both gas and oil? Generally no. The output configuration and ignition energy differ. Using a single-pole gas transformer on an oil burner usually produces unreliable ignition and repeated lockouts.
How do I know whether I need intermittent or continuous duty? If the burner ignites once per heating cycle and then shuts off, intermittent is sufficient. If the ignition system remains energised for extended periods - kilns, tunnel furnaces, some process heaters - specify continuous duty.
Is there a minimum order quantity for custom designs? [MOQ applies to custom specifications; standard models are available from low quantities.] Contact the sales team for current terms.
